1. Do we use our cameras in the workshop?
Yes. It's a hands-on workshop - we go through camera modes, menus and practice shooting. I like to hear everyone's camera clicking away during class. The more mistakes you make while you're there, the more we can address on the spot.
2. I haven't bought a camera yet, can I attend without one?
Yes. You can certainly come without a camera, but it does help to have hands-on time so if you have any issues you can ask questions right then.
3. I am a total beginner; will I be able to keep up?
You will learn a lot, but some may go over your head. What you do pick up will put you further ahead than others that have been shooting casually for years. After you get to know your camera better in the following months, your notes will make a lot more sense when you give them a fourth and fifth look.
4. I consider myself advanced; would your class be too easy for me?
If you've ever switched your camera to Program Mode just to see if you could get a photo to work better then you could learn a lot from the workshop. If you look at your images on your LCD instead of the histograms to judge exposure then you would take a lot from the workshop. If you're just spinning dials in manual mode until you arrive at your exposure, you would take a lot from the workshop. If you're even reading this far into my FAQ, you would take a lot from the workshop!
5. Can I walk out of your workshop and be able to photograph a wedding the next day?
The real answer is probably not, but with plenty of practice you will be able to! I can show you how to operate your camera, but you still need to practice. The good news is you can practice in your living room, basement, or garage. Test photos do not have to be worthy of hanging on your wall so practice, learn, delete and repeat!
6. Do I need a flash?
Most classes do not require a flash.
7. What workshops can I look forward to?
