Q. Does it cost anything to join this meetup?

At this point, no. Meetup.com does charge a fee to utilize this website to organize these events, so at some point we may start charging a membership fee. Some events or workshops may incur certain costs, so we may ask for a fee to cover the event cost.

Q. Do I have to be an experienced photographer to join this group?

Absolutely not. We have a wide range of members in terms of experience level that come out to any given event. We have rank amateurs to actual honest-to-goodness professionals in the group. All are welcome.

Q. What is a Workshop?

A workshop is an organized event to share tips & tricks, learn new techniques, and discuss various styles. It also gives us a chance to talk about upcoming field trips and events. We usually get together afterward for a bite and a little photo chit chat as well. Check out Workshop FAQs for more information.

Q. Do you have a regular meetup time?

Yes! We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month, so block off your calendars today!

Q. Do you only meet in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties?

We're open to meeting anywhere, but the vision for this group is to keep the group local - there are plenty of social and photoshoot opportunities in the area. That being said, if there's something super cool to shoot in Philadelphia, and you're willing to drive, I'm there.

Q. Can I share my photos with the group?

Absolutely, and let me just say that I admire your enthusiasm. You can either post them to the photos area in our Meetup site here, or you can join our companion Flickr Group and post them there.

Q. I have a great idea for a meetup. What do I do?

Visit our group calendar and suggest your idea.

Q: Do I need to participate in the assignments when I come to a meetup?

No, absolutely not. Assignments are purely optional, but I suggest expanding your comfort zone and enjoy the joy of photography.

Q: Will my photos be critiqued?

When you submit your photos, please indicate whether you want to receive a critique on the photos or would prefer just to have your photo displayed for its artistic value only so we can group them accordingly.
