Heads
up everyone!!
“I thought it might be fun to have a weekly or maybe even biweekly word
triggered photo. Someone picks a word and then we all have to capture the
meaning with a photograph.
Examples:
1. (Life) might be mother and baby, a flower beginning to
bloom.
2.(Dark) might be a picture of a drug addict, scary clown, storm, night.
The catch is we can not use a previously taken photo.” Thanks for the
idea, Viola!
You asked for it, you
got it!! Starting Midnight Friday through Midnight Friday, you will be challenged
with interpreting a word with a photograph.
Rules:
1. The Word Challenge will be posted Friday night. The challenge
word will be chosen at random from the Washington Post front page.
2. The photograph must be taken during week 1 between Midnight
Friday and Midnight Friday Eastern Time. No previous photos may be used.
3. You may submit only
one image – only your very best!!
4. You may make basic adjustments, i.e., color correction,
sharpening, cropping, dust spotting. Compositions of multiple images are not permitted. This is a
photography contest, not a Photoshop contest.
5. You must apply a watermark on the image with your name and
date the image was taken before you upload your image to the Word Challenge
photo gallery.
6. You must add a comment after uploading with the technical details
of the image: shutter speed, ISO, aperture, filters, handheld/tripod. The image
needs to carry itself. Do not try to describe what the image is or means. Let your
image speak on its own!
7. During week two, Unexpected Treasures Meetup members may comment
on the images
8. The “winner” is determined by the number of
comments on the photos.
9. The winner has bragging rights.
Good luck and have fun!! We are looking forward to seeing
your creativity!

The Unexpected Treasures Organizers
