Kathy Kupka is an award winning portrait photographer who is known for her touching and humorous portraits of both people and dogs. Kathy, a wife, mother, and grandmother, was born in Philadelphia, and now lives with her husband in Leesburg, Virginia. Kathy left the corporate world and began her photography business in 1998 after years of photography classes at NOVA.
Kathy photographs with available light only in her home studio and at local parks. She is known for her exuberant fun-loving personality, as well as her patience and ability to outlast any child or dog.
Kathy is also a ten year cancer survivor of Multiple Myeloma. She will show you how she turned “lemons into lemonade” by raising thousands of dollars for cancer research with three self-published doggy calendars, one of which was a PPA AN-NE marketing award winner. She is also an inspirational speaker and gives her program “But, There IS Treatment,” to hospitals, support groups, and other venues.
Kathy will share how she creates her winning images by finding the correct lighting and settings with her program “Behind the Scenes.” You'll see how she creates portraits, and her own line of doggy greeting cards.
Kathy is a member of Virginia Professional Photographers Association, Professional Photographers of America, and Toastmasters International.
