Word Challenge: 8/28 - 9/3

No location was chosen

The Word Challenge is intended to invoke new thoughts and perspectives in photos. The idea is to photograph your interpretation of the word. Step outside your comfort zone! Look at everything from a different angle! Take the images ANYWHERE! Even if you are on travel!

The Word Challenge for this week is MESSAGE.

Rules and guidelines:

1. Photos must be taken during the week of the challenge starting Friday night at Midnight through Friday night at Midnight (please, be honest about when the photo is taken).

2. Use only basic Photoshop techniques to tweak you photo: Color adjustment, sharpening, cropping, straightening. DO NOT submit compilations, multiple images, etc. This is a photographic exercise, not a Photoshop exercise. Emphasize your photographic skills to produce an image.

3. Upload ONLY ONE IMAGE (your very best) from the week starting the Saturday following the Word Challenge! EXIF data should be intact. Add a comment with the image title, date taken, how it was taken, technical details (camera, lens, ISO, etc.). Do not use the comment to describe what your photo means, the image should speak for itself! The sooner you upload, the more comments you will receive.

4. Members of our Meetup Group are encouraged to review the photos and make comments. Please limit your comments to constructive critiques, only one comment per image. You can enter comments on multiple images. You do not have to submit photos to enter comments.

5. The winner is based on the number of comments received. The prize is the comments you receive and bragging rights.

Have fun!! smile

Where do we upload our word challenge photos? I don't see where I can do it other than under my profile.

The limitation of the Meetup format is that photos cannot be uploaded for an event that has not happened yet. The ability to upload photos will be enabled when the "event" happens on Friday.

A Flickr account is free and Unexpected Treasures already has a group on there. It is something we will look at in the future.

This has been a lot of fun & I look forward to more. It's interesting to see different photographers' visual interpretations of the selected word of the week. Message was not an easy concept to start with, but I think everyone did really well. Can't wait to see the School images!
