The 34th annual Maryland Renaissance Festival starts August 28 for the 2010 season at Revel Grove in Crownsville, Maryland. The Maryland Renaissance Festival has become the region's premier outdoor event and the second largest Renaissance Festival in the country. Since the Festival's first season as a ramshackle village in 1977, the event has matured into a large theme show with more than 1,300 participants and 280,000 guests per season.

The festival has annual photo contests from pictures taken by patrons of the event. I'm not sure if you would win anything, it may only be for bragging rights.

  Any way to push the date back a little? The 28th is just a few days away and doesn't give much time for planning. Festival will be going on until the end of October.

  Anyone trying to go this weekend, be aware, major roadwork on Rt 50 east from the beltway to Annapolis, starting tonight (8/27) at 9pm through Monday morning.
