June Workshop - Photoshop Lightroom

Most of us have a couple of shots that we are really proud of. It might be an incredible shot of a storm or it could be a portrait that just came out perfectly.

Unfortunately for many of us, these gold shots are few and far between. Sure, we can get the occasional brilliant photo, but we find it hard to put together time after time. Don't worry, most of us have the same problem!

The thing is that by taking your time with a few basic skills, you can greatly increase the chances that you are going to increase your average for getting that great shot. The funny thing is that none of these skills are particularly difficult.

Tonight's Workshop: Post-production Techniques - Photoshop Lightroom

After you go on a photoshoot, you have all of these images, what do you do with them then? This session will focus on basic digital photograph workflow using Lightroom 2.x. The session will cover the basic features and methods of using Lightroom to catalog, adjust and process your images after capture. Lightroom has many more features than can be covered in one session, but this will get you started in using Lightroom and understanding why this is an important tool for the photographer.

If you have a laptop with Lightroom 2.x installed, you are welcomed to bring it and follow along. Time will be limited, so advanced features will not be discussed.

Keep those shutters snapping.

Note: Park in the parking garage behind the building. DO NOT PARK IN RESERVED SPACES. Enter the building from the rear and take the elevator to the the second floor. Look for signs to the classroom from the elevator.

Excellent workshop. I consider myself an advanced users of Lightroom 2 but John was able to show me a few things I didn't know. I'm expecting my copy of Lightroom 3 soon and can't wait to apply my knew knowledge to the newer version. Thanks John.

The Powerpoint presentation from the workshop has been uploaded to the MORE > FILES section at the top of the web page. I am sorry so many people did not show up for this workshop. It is a bit discouraging to put in so much effort and only a few get the benefits. I am happy everyone got something from the workshop.

John, I'm so sorry I missed it. I had been looking forward to this meetup from the very first time you guys mentioned the possibility of doing a photoshop meetup. I was very disappointed when I learned that I had missed it. Somehow I made a mistake on the dates, so I promise to pay better attention next time. lol
    Looking forward to future meetups.

I felt the session was really benifical, both for the members but also for me as a leader. The facility was a good forum for this typpe of lecture sytle event.

Thanks John for the great tips and overall review of LightRoom. I have used it for 8 months now and I learned several new capabilities that I had not discovered on my own. I will order my upgrade for version 3.0 immediately based on the new features you highlighted.
