Lilypons Water Gardens & British Car Show

Situated along the Monocacy River, Lilypons is an aquatic farm of around 300 acres with some 500 examples of ponds and pools designed to inspire the home garden designer. Ponds are filled with waterlilies, lotus and koi carp which visitors can feed from a floating dock. The garden encourage photographers to visit. Lotus blossoms open at night and close early morning around 10:00 AM. Other lilies are open all day!

It's a short trip from VA through Leesburg on Route 15 across Point of Rocks bridge or out I-270 to Exit 36.

Recommended equipment: Tripod, shutter release, medium telephoto lens (ie, 70 - 200), circular polarizing filter (cuts relections, enhances saturation), light defuser (optional), sun screen (very little shade available), insect repellent (lots of water in the area, bugs likely), hat (particularly for the folicly challenged, like me), water bottle, folding chair (optional) and a smile!

Hello--this will be our first time with this meet up group. Just making sure we're following the right procedure. We're meeting at Lilypons, right? Is there a meeting place, or should we just look for a group of people? Thanks Tom and Betsy Keogan

This was an awesome meetup, I think I may have filled up a couple memory cards with so many great subjects to shoot. I hope everyone checked for ticks after-wards, I found a huge one crawling on my leg when I got in the car.

Great images from everyone. The overcast day sure made for some wonderful photography. I'd love to see more cars if anyone has them. I went to shoot them as they were announcing to close up because of the storm; so I couldn't take advantage of the nice car show.

Excellent day with high clouds to diffuse the light. The weather was warm and humid, but the flowers were beautiful! The auto show was an added bonus!

I didn't see the cars but the water gardens were pretty and had lots of photo opportunities. It was great that is wasn't too sunny but bad that it was so humid. Overall a good a trip!

Thanks for organizing this John. We'll have to keep an eye on the sunflowers. It's too bad Mother Nature had to spoil the car show. The Lilypons had some nice flowers though.

Enjoyed it very much. Weather was warm and humid but you get that in June. Lilypons is a great setting for pics of blooming lilies and the car show for pics of various cars (British in this case).
