Actually, for this event, there is NO entry fee!!! The fee you found is the standard entry fee. For the festival it's free!!

Barbara and I will be camping for the weekend at Pohick Bay Regional Park in site 26, just up the road from Mason Neck State Park. If you are interested in joining us, call the park and reserve a site 703-339-6104. Go to the NVRPA site to see a campground map.

Are there any plans for meeting up anywhere? I was planning on getting there around noon myself and was wondering what other people had in mind.

Even though it was raining and such on Saturday, the subdued lighting from the overcast is perfect - really brings out the details and great color.

The weather was not as bad as expected, only occassional rain. Unfortunately, weather is an uncontrollable factor. The view of the rookery was very distant, difficult to photograph. The rest of the festival was good. I saw many of the people how came to the festival and received calls from others who came later. I'm sorry we missed you. Some of us went to Occaquan Bay NWR to photograph osprey.

The meetup was fun and I found a cool new park that I never knew about. I saw two eagles on the nature trails. Thanks John for pointing out the Boy Scout blind on the Bayview trail. I was able to photograph an eagle perched in the tree across the marsh. I needed more glass (had a 200mm with a 300 equivalent on APS-C sensor D90), but I got a picture of an eagle and that's a start!
